I'm looking foward to this release. It will extend the PNW coverage further north towards Alaska.

Hi, some nice videos. Just got into flight simulator but definately need to upgrade to truly enjoy some of the stunning visuals I have seen.
ReplyDeleteLooking at getting the following parts:
£740 - Intel i7 980x 6 Core
£155 - Coolermaster HAF X Gaming Tower Case
£270 - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard [GA-X58A-UD7]
£350 - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [GV-N480D5-15I-B]
£200 - Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 16000C8 2000MHz Triple Channel Kit (CMT6GX3M3A2000C8) [CMT6GX3M3A2000C8]
£75 - Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA
£180 - Antec TruePower Quattro 1200W Modular Power Supply
That should be more than enough to run fsx with good scenery ect.?
Thanks.
Or what about this system?

I mean, if I can get virtually same performance for less then it make no sense to pay higher.
Thanks.
Sorry not that system, this:

Sorry for another comment, but for the graphics card with the above, I was thinking of getting two GTX 70's in sli or a single GTX 80. Which is the better option? Two GTX 70's cost just a little more than one GTX 80 as they've had a pricedrop today. :)
ReplyDeleteI would go with the i7 950 and a gtx 480. FSX cannot use sli and in fact can reduce performance. The GTX 480 is by far the best graohics card available for FSX and i7's are the best processesor but make sure you overclock to at least 4ghz
ReplyDeleteHi Steve, thanks for the reply.

Could I get as good graphics as that on gtx70? Or is that asking too much?
If you have an i7 processor of any type, then the answer is yes. The 4870 is still very powerful and if this falls into your budget, then I wouldn't worry about performance. FSX is heavily processor dependent so the most important part of your setup is getting an i7. Graphics wise, you won't go wrong with the GTX 470 or 480.
ReplyDeleteCorrection, I meant the 470 not 4870
ReplyDeleteOk thanks Steve, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteHi Steve, I just ordered and received a GTX670 and have been reading reviews, your's included, that recommend the 580. Should I ship mine back and order the 580 or stick with what I have?
ReplyDeleteOne more thing, I'm building a new p.c. just for fsx as my old one could not handle it.
ReplyDeleteTower: Corsair Obsidian 650
MB: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H 1155
CPU: i7 2700K @ 3.5Ghz, gonna oc to 4+
GPU: GeForce GTX 670
RAM: Corsair Vengeance (2*4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz
Cooler: Corsair H100
PSU: Corsair 750W Professional
HD: 2 TB Barracuda @ 7200RPM 64MB cache
I want to be able to run Aerosoft sceneries, ultimate traffic, REX, and PMDG aircraft. Would these specs be up to the task? I already have the HD, PSU, and GPU in hand. and I would love to go for the extreme hex core i7 if I had the money but until the price comes down, that's not out of the question.
